Good sea trout fishing continues on the Moy estuary. We have had weeks of dry weather through April and May with the odd sprinkle and the land is soaking it all up. This is perfect water for sea trout and I have not had a blank day on Pegasus since the start of the season, April 17.
The quality of our fish is the big talking point. They are well fed and in great condition. There is a big head of sea trout holding in the lower estuary just now and there they will stay until the Heavens open and they will do one of two things. They run upstream or return to sea and run one of the nearby rivers.
In the meantime they are keeping local and visiting anglers happy with tight lines. I’m hearing reports of grilles in the bay waiting for the next spate. Our larger sea trout run with these grilles so the best of the season has yet to arrive!
