A Long Cold Spring

Since the sea trout season opened I haven’t been able to get into my stride. The weather is so inconsistent, it’s been one day on, two days off.

After a week of strong cold northerly winds with hail stones and snow, Saturday brought a calm with an increase in temperatures and my guests… Ricky and Mary McDonagh. Jim and Mandy Connell, Manchester, landed seven fish. The  girls beat the lads 5-2… sorry lads!

Sundays forecast wasn’t promising but as I departed the Quay in the morning the estuary was like a sheet of glass and seven lovely fresh run spring sea trout were landed… strong fish! As evening approached however, the weather deteriorated and as we had the best out of the day it was unanimously agreed to adjourn to the high stool. My Sunday party; Patrick Kennedy, David Styles, Judge Michael Gough and David Roberts. Worcester.

Todays winds are gusting to 35k and with a small craft weather warning in place, guess what… I had to cancel again! Judd
