As former proprietor of the award winning establishment “The Riverboat Inn” (now Crockets on the Quay) I have over thirty years experience dealing with angling tourism in the Moy valley region in the North West of Ireland.
The river Moy is renowned for its salmon fishing but seatrout is my specialty. There has been a remarkable surge in interest on the Moy estuary with the development of salt-water fly-fishing.
Inspired by Master angler and author Peter O’Reilly, I started experimenting in the salt water with flies and lures in the mid 90’s. Eventually, with the assistance and advice of my good friend and fishing companion, Alan Pearson and Rob Williams from Wales, I finally cracked it.
Alan then gave me his old vice and arranged for a friend of his to educate me in the art of fly tying. Over the years I have developed a range of flies for the salt water and I find this aspect of the business very fulfilling.
If you are planning a visit to this area why not join me on my boat for a day on this wonderful estuary and enjoy a great experience.
